Shannon is a Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in San Diego, California. She is licensed by California's Board of Behavioral Sciences (MFC 51965). As an undergraduate, she studied Psychology and Italian at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. She obtained her Master's Degree from University of San Diego's Marital and Family Therapy program, with an emphasis in Medical Family Therapy.
She has been providing counseling services for individuals, couples, families and children since 2007. She has a wide array of training and professional interests obtained from diverse clinical settings. She spent the majority of her MFT training and internship within the Collaborative Care Program at UCSD's Department of Family & Preventative Medicine. She then practiced as a licensed therapist at a community mental health agency in North Carolina before returning to San Diego. She has run psychotherapy groups on such topics as pregnancy and infant loss, anxiety management, mindfulness and meditation.
Outside of private practice, Shannon has most recently worked for the Department of Defense, providing therapy to active-duty Marines and their families stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Previously, she spent years working within both UCSD's Department of Family Medicine and UCSD's Department of Pediatrics. She has extensive experience lecturing to residents and medical students on current behavioral health issues. Additionally, she volunteers with an international medical group traveling annually to Central America, providing hollistic mental health care to rural, under-served populations.
Shannon's membership in Professional Associations includes California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), Collaborative Family Healthcare Association (CFHA) and Postpartum Health Alliance (PHA).
